Successful Grant Writing for Archives

Wednesday, February 27, 2019
10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. (Pacific Standard Time)

Webinar description:

Successful grants have the ability to transform access by increasing visibility to archival collection material. However, the limited number of archival grant opportunities can prove to be a challenge for grant writers. This webinar, presented by Greg Williams, Director, Gerth Archives & Special Collections, CSU Dominguez Hills Library, will focus on preparing successful grants for individual archival institutions as well as collaborative projects spanning several institutions.

Please join us as Greg guides potential grant writers through the multi-faceted process in generating a sellable project, which can include: writing the various elements of a successful grant proposal; pitching to grant program officers; managing a successful grant-funded project; and dealing with reviewers, feedback, and rejection.

The cost is $10 for SCA members; $5 for student members; and $20 for non-members. All registrants will receive a link to the webinar recording after the webinar is completed.

Presenter:

Greg Williams has been Director of the Gerth Archives and Special Collections Department in the CSU Dominguez Hills Library for 15 years. He has been an Archivist and Curator for 38 years at the Oregon State Archives, Rutgers University, the San Diego Historical Society and the other institutions. He is the principal investigator for the statewide collaborative project entitled the CSU Japanese American Digitization Project that has digitized 35,000 archival documents and photographs. He has written, been awarded and administered grants for over 25 years from the NEH, NHPRC, IMLS, the Haynes Foundation, the Mellon Foundation, the California State Library, and the National Parks Service.
